About the book
PROVE IT. is a guided journal for a full year. It is written for people who want to spend less time planning, overthinking and preparing, and more time taking action that creates visible results.
Every day brings you back to a few simple questions, from what needs to be visible by tonight to what the next real step is. The aim is not a perfect streak but an honest record of what actually happened.
Planning, research and learning can all be useful. When they keep delaying action, they can become a place to hide. Weekly reviews, monthly reflections and larger 90-day checkpoints help you recognise patterns, measure real progress and adjust when something is not working.
A look inside
Who the book is for
- People who tend to plan, research or prepare instead of starting
- Anyone who wants to turn intentions into visible results, one day at a time
- Readers who want an honest record of what they did, avoided and learned over a year
- Readers who prefer working on paper rather than in an app
How the journal is structured
- 365 daily pages
The same few questions every day: what needs to be visible, what you did, what took courage and what comes next.
- Weekly reviews
A regular look at what you completed and what you avoided.
- Monthly reflections
Room to see where you became more courageous and what you learned through action.
- 90-day checkpoints
Larger reviews to recognise patterns, measure real progress and adjust.

What research says about the methods
The studies below examine general methods that also appear in this journal. They do not show that this particular book works, and they are no substitute for professional advice or treatment.
-
Recording progress
A meta-analysis of 138 studies found that interventions prompting people to monitor their progress helped them reach their goals on average. The effect was larger when progress was physically recorded or reported to others.
-
Habits take repetition
In one study, adults repeated a new behaviour daily in the same situation. Among participants with usable data, it took a median of 66 days for the behaviour to feel largely automatic, with wide differences between people. Missing the occasional day made little difference.
-
Planning concretely: when, where, how
Plans of the form “If situation X arises, then I will do Y” showed a medium to large effect on goal attainment in a meta-analysis of 94 tests. A plan does not replace motivation; it makes the step from intention to action easier.
-
What writing can and cannot do
Studies on writing about personal experiences show small average effects that vary widely between people and situations. A review of journaling for mental illness found a small to moderate benefit, with very mixed evidence. A journal can be a useful tool, but it is not therapy.
